The mirror sees it all
The writings on the wall
To the girl he calls
She turns to him and falls
Gazing in the glass
She sees the truth at last
Hides it with a laugh
Would that she could break the glass.
“Mirror” can be found in my collection of poetry and prose “Dalliance”, which can be accessed here, https://www.amazon.com/Dalliance-collection-poetry-prose-Morris-ebook/dp/B00QQVJC7E/
A recording of my poem “Lonely Train”, which I recorded yesterday (Sunday 4 October),
I have just uploaded several videos to Youtube of me reading poems from my book ‘Light and Shade; serious (and not so serious) poetry. A lot of the poems were read next to the Wood near my home, and due to the wind, the sound quality is impaired.

I derive great pleasure from listening to music. One of my favourite artists is Ed Sheeran. On listening to some of Ed’s songs I am struck by how closely music and poetry can blend together. Take, for example Sheeran’s song “Happier”
As with much poetry, “Happier” consists of a mixture of rhyme and half-rhyme. However most of “Happier” does rhyme, with “too”, “do” and “new” forming a simple (but highly effective) rhyming scheme as with
“You look happier, you do.
My friend told me one day I’ll feel it too”.
If you listen to the song, you will, I think hear the poetry therein.

Walking through the churchyard, as dusk fell, I heard the note of my old friend the owl. On reaching home I closed my bedroom window for it was a chilly evening. However, despite my double-glazing, the cold cry of the owl penetrated into my modern flat.
Ever since moving to the Upper Norwood area in late 1997, I have always been conscious of the owl. Sometimes he disappears for protracted periods but, as sure as eggs are eggs “the fatal bellman” reappears.
Hearing the owl reminds me of my poem which is, appropriately enough entitled “Owl”,
On Wednesday 13 March, I shall be giving a private poetry reading, along with several other poets. I have a slot of 15 minutes to fill, and I am in the process of determining which of my poems to read. Thus far I have decided to recite the below poems:
https://kmorrispoet.com/2017/05/01/wood-in-the-rain/
https://kmorrispoet.com/2016/07/08/the-poet-and-the-workman/
https://kmorrispoet.com/2017/09/18/from-my-archives-kipling-may-regret/.
I shall be spending part of my weekend in deciding which of my other poems to read.
Sorting through my work kindles in me a desire to publish a “selected Poems”. This is, I think a longer-term project requiring considerable thought and much burning of the midnight oil. It is, nonetheless something on which my heart is set.

Earlier today (6 March 2019), I posted about the illegal uploading of my book, “The Writer’s Pen and Other Poems” to Youtube. In that post I explained how the issue had been reported by me to Youtube. My thanks to everyone who commented on the earlier article and shared it via WordPress and Twitter.
I am pleased to let you know that Youtube have taken down the illegally uploaded segment of my book, and a message now appears stating that the content was removed due to a copyright claim by myself.
I reported the infringement to Youtube at approximately 7 pm (UK time) yesterday evening, and received notification that the content had been removed earlier this evening. Given the number of copyright infringements with which Youtube deals, I am pleased at how quickly they dealt with my takedown request.
(For me reading the title poem from “The Writer’s Pen and Other Poems” which is, appropriately enough entitled “The Writer’s Pen”, please see below),
