A diner from Madras
Raised his wine glass,

Is known to me as Alice.
She calls men her honey
And steals all their money.
And now she’s buying a palace!

I have checked the clock
And, hearing a car stop
And the rhythm
Of heels coming,
Have thought on time running
Away for she and me.

To avoid the winking telephone
And the internet of regret.
But fearful dust
Brings on lust.
Soon Autum Will Come
Soon Autumn will come
And girl’s feet pass
Over leaves and grass.
But the churchyard clock
They will notice not.
