When an excitable young lady named Lou
Said, “I never thought I’d be here with you!”.
And I said, “my dear,
But now you are here”,
She said, “yes! That is undoubtedly true!”.

This evening I recorded a number of poems on Tiktok. You don’t have to have a TikTok account in order to view these videos. However, if you enjoy these readings and wish to follow me on TikTok that would be much appreciated.
I have recently created a poetry t shirt, which shows my poem ‘Fallen Blossom’ :
I found
Blossom on the ground.
Which brought
To mind the thought,
We all,
As the blossom, fall.
The t shirt was manufactured by a company called Fluid Branding.
Fallen Blossom can be found in my collection, More Poetic Meanderings which is available in Kindle and Paperback from Amazon.
I am now on Threads, which is an alternative to Twitter. To follow me on Threads, please go to https://www.threads.net/@kevinmorrispoet
In order to follow me on Threads, you will need to download the Threads app, as Threads appears to be purely app based.
I am still on Twitter, and will continue to post there for the time being at least, but I will also be posting on Threads.
Please note, my Instagram has also changed from @kmorrispoet to @kevinmorrispoet

Writers are frequently told that they should (or should not) express themselves in a given way. This poem of mine, composed some years back, is by way of a response to such people.
Everyone knows, that the first man to liken a maiden to a rose
Was a poet (at least it is often contended so),
But the critics then go
On to say that those
Who continue to use such metaphor
Are second-rate, as it has all been said before
But has not the rhymer written about everything under the sun?
And if so, are we now not done
With rhyme?
For surely we should spend our time
Both day and night
In instructing others on how to write? …
As some of you may know, I have recorded a number of my poems on TikTok. You don’t have to have an account to watch my videos, however, you will need an account if you wish to like, comment or follow me on the platform.
My experience of TikTok has, on the whole, been a positive one, and I would encourage my fellow writers and poets to consider the platform. In my experience, my videos on TikTok reach people who do not follow me on my blog, although I am, of course, grateful to those few WordPress followers who also follow me on TikTok.
I am pleased to announce that my June Author Newsletter is available and can be found here. It is over a year since my last newsletter, and I promise to be much better in the future.
My thanks to Ester Chilton for kindly publishing a guest post by me.
I’m delighted to welcome Kevin Morris back as my guest writer. Kevin has appeared on my blog a few times with some wonderful poems. He’s just had a new book of poetry released, called ‘MyFriend’s Robot Girlfriend’. Do hop over to Amazon and take a look. Links can be found below.
Here’s what Kevin has to say about his love of poetry:
I have long been a fan of poetry in general, and spent many happy hours leafing through poetry anthologies in the school library. I know, I was a precocious child!
Many of my poems are of a serious nature. I therefore thought that it was high time to pull together a collection of my humorous poems, hence my recently published collection, “My Friend’s Robot Girlfriend and Other Humorous Verses”, which is available in Kindle and paperback from Amazon.
I hope you enjoy the below poems:

Fortunately, I have a full-time job which pays the bills. Poetry does not, I believe pay the bills for the overwhelming majority of those engaged in composing it. Ultimately I write for the love of writing. I am also delighted when readers tell me how my work touched them.
A great poem by Mick Canning. I must confess that, as someone who is blind, I have been offered the help referred to by Mick since I was a youngster!

God’s bones.
Cold stone skin covering
A hewn wooden ribcage that
Conceals a petrified heart.
A fossilised giant wallowing in a garden
Growing nothing but death.
.
We know we will get old
But it takes you by surprise all the same.
Perhaps we refuse to see the signs –
Unexpected offers of assistance,
A sudden inability to run for the bus and
A need to take more frequent breaks.
We become fragile,
And lose confidence in our abilities.
.
Perhaps we lack courage, but
Must we resort to this?
.
Really, only the young want to live forever.
Oh, the tedium of eternity
Where angels yearn for the peace of annihilation!
We have a choice;
At the end we have a chance to be brave.
