When A Young Man Searching for Gold

When a young man searching for gold
Went out in the bitterest of cold,
And dug in the iron hard ground
He discovered a chest shapely and round,
And a girl who said, “I’m cold!”.

My Local Park

When an elderly gentleman whose name is Mark
Said, “you should avoid the local park,
As a loose young lady named White
Tempts men into sin, both day and night”,
I said, “how do you know that Mark!”.

Maddie Revisited

Yesterday (24 April), I posted a humorous poem entitled “There Was a Young Lady Called Maddie”, https://kmorrispoet.com/2020/04/24/a-young-lady-named-maddie/.

I emailed my poem to my friend Andrew, who replied with a slightly modified version of my limerick.

Below is my limerick, followed by Andrew’s poem:

A young lady named Maddie
Placed an ad for a sugar daddy.
She received lots of replies
From some rather weird guys.
And I sent her my tea caddy.

There was a young lady called Maddie,
placed an ad for a sweet sugar daddy.
She received lots of replies
from both girls and sad guys.
But the best from her friend named Maggie.

My Poem, “At A Time of Social Distancing”, read by Actor and BBC Announcer David Vickery

David Vickery

I recently blogged regarding the actor, David Vickery’s kind offer to read poems submitted to him on the subject of the Corona Virus, https://kmorrispoet.com/2020/04/17/share-your-poems/.

I am delighted to be able to announce that my poem, “At A time of Social Distancing”, is now available on Youtube and can be found here, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JFwdVUyS_cs&list=UUERRl7-EinGfUMCKePVlD3A.

In addition to “At A Time of Social Distancing”, David has also recorded a number of other poems, all of which can be found on his Youtube (please see link above).

When A Young Lady Named Lex

When a young lady named Lex
Sent me an extremely explicit text,
I said, with a deep sigh,
You have got the wrong guy.
But I really enjoyed your text!”.

“Passions: Love Poems and Other Writings, by Gabriela Maria Milton is Now Available for Purchase in the Amazon Kindle Store

Back in 2019, I was priveleged to interview poet and author Gabriela Maria Milton, https://kmorrispoet.com/2019/07/16/interview-with-poet-and-author-gabriela-m/.

On 20 April, Gabriela released “Passions: Love Poems and Other Writings”, https://shortprose.blog/2020/04/21/my-book-passions-love-poems-and-other-writings-was-published-poetry-book-poems-poem/.

I am currently reading Gabriela’s wonderful poetry on my Amazon Echo, via the Echo’s in-built speech. Whilst I have always greatly enjoyed Gabriela’s work, being able to sit in my favourite armchair and listen to her poetry read aloud adds a new and richer dimention to the experience. In my view blogs are a great way of publicising poetry. There is, however no substitute for sitting down with a good book and enjoying the work of poets. This is certainly the case with Gabriela Maria Milton’s poetry.

When My Friend Whose Name Is Round

When my friend whose name is Round
Said, “Soon, I shall be cold underground”.
I wept buckets for him.
But his beautiful girlfriend Kim,
She will still be very much around!
