The enigmatic sphinx, winks
As I
Pass by.
And seems to say
“‘Tis a beautiful day
And, of course
A nod is as good as a wink
To a blind horse.
But my good sir,
You should take extreme care,
For you think
I wink,
But the sun’s glare …”.

The above poem was prompted by the mention of the Sphinx in this wonderful poem by Gabriela, https://shortprose.blog/2020/05/09/the-violin-of-love-poem-poetry-prose-poem/
Beautiful poem Kevin. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for the mention. 🌹
Thank you so much for your kind words, Gabriela. I am delighted you like this poem of mine, but it was yours that inspired me to write it. Its a beautiful sunny day here in the UK, and I hope you are enjoying good weather. Kevin
It was a pleasure to read your poem Kevin. I am humbled I inspired you. It has been hot and dry here. Today is rather cooler so I am grateful.
Enjoy the beautiful weather.

I am glad you have weather more to your liking today Gabriela. I was born in January so do, generally speaking prefer cooler weather. However its been pleasantly warm here today, but not overly so. Kevin
I like warm weather Kevin. But it was so hot that my car battery went dead in the garage. Cool is like in the low twenties forf me. That is what we have today 🙂
What a mysterious and witty poem!✨
Thank you. I’m delighted you enjoyed reading my poem. There are sphinx in Crystal Palace park, which is about a 25 minute walk from my home. If you are interested, you can find out more about them here, https://memoirsofametrogirl.com/2017/01/08/crystal-palace-park-sphinxes-restored-history/. Best wishes, Kevin
Thank you for sharing this article. I have never thought London had such an exquisite homage to Ancient Egyptians! It’s always great to find inspiration in one’s surroundings. 🙂
You are welcome for the share. I’m glad you found the article interesting. Kevin
