I hear the breeze
In these
Familiar trees
And wish to stay here,
Amidst these leaves.
For, when I leave these trees
The wind’s blast
Is surpassed
By the drear
Noise of vehicles, passing near.
I hear the breeze
In these
Familiar trees
And wish to stay here,
Amidst these leaves.
For, when I leave these trees
The wind’s blast
Is surpassed
By the drear
Noise of vehicles, passing near.
Very nice, Kevin. I hope you are safe and well.
Thank you Roberta. I’m pleased you enjoyed my poem. I am well, thanks and hope all is okay with you. Best wishes, Kevin
I love this poem. What a great juxtaposition of feelings and sounds!
I’m in the countryside now, but there’s a busy road nearby, so I feel the same longing for closeness with nature, which you have described so lyrically.
Sincerely Yours,
Veronica.
Thank you for your lovely comment, Veronica. I am delighted that you enjoyed my poem and that you can relate to it. My home is close to a main road also, however Spa Woods (the woodland which inspired this poem) is just a very short walk from my home and I’m fortunate to have a large communal garden which my living room overlooks. Yes, being with nature and the yearning to escape from the urban is something important to me, and your comment demonstrates your desire to get away from the urban environment also. Thanks again for commenting. Kevin
I enjoyed this.. you really set the scene..
Thank you. I’m really pleased you enjoyed my poem. Best wishes, Kevin
