As I walked through the churchyard real late
I met a young lady named Miss Kate.
When she rattled her chains
And showed me her brains.
I said, “stop that great racket Miss Kate!”

The Hungry Hound
I am Trigger.
My Stomach is bigger
Than you think.
Your lunch will be gone in the blink
Of an eye.
Then away I fly.
Should you ask, “who stole my lunch?” I reply,
“Not I”
But, dear reader, I lie …!
I have been known to eat plastic.
My reach is elastic.
You think your food safe?
My friend brace
Yourself for a shock
For I will gobble the lot!
Be it ever so hot!
(The above poem was dedicated to my guide dog Trigger, who sadly died
in 2020, but lives on in my heart).
Kevin’s published poems are available online from Amazon.
He is also featured in an anthology, details from this link.

Underwear
A young lady whose name is Claire
Just happens to have my silk underwear.
We had enjoyed a good drink,
But its not what you think
As the bishop and Flair where there!
As I Walked Home One Dark Halloween
As I walked home one dark Halloween
I met a young lady in green.
Her name it was Grace
And back at her place
Sat the devil eating strawberries and cream!

I have reproduced below my poem Leaving. The text of the poem is followed by a Youtube video of me reading it.
Leaving
On my way home
I touched the stone
Of my local church.
And longed to stay
With the singing birds
On this summer evening.
I have oft heard
The birds singing
And regretted leaving.
I envy them
For, unlike men
They do not weep.
For they see not
The final sleep.
While I
Knowing that man must die
Have the beauty of birdsong,
Which does not last long.
Some Civilisations Go Slow
Some civilisations go slow
In their decay
While others stay
But a short time.
Birdsong does not last.
And poets must rhyme
Of empires that pass
And fast climate change.
A Most Wicked Young Lady of Dover
A most wicked young lady of Dover
Has gone and stolen my favourite pullover.
So I’ve said to Bess
“If you want your dress
Then first give me back my pullover!”
Falling Rain
The traffic in the distance.
The falling rain.
I have no real resistance
To the pleasure
And pain
Of a girl’s half-hearted kisses,
That fall
like the rain.
The Hidden Door
I have seen
In a dream
A hidden door.
Through which all pass
And are seen
By man no more.
A Most Beautiful Young Lady Named Polly
A most beautiful young lady named Polly
Said, “lets go and do something jolly!”
When we did rush
Into a thick bush
We screamed, “my god its prickly holly!”
