A most wicked young man named Ted
Said, “I’ll put holly in your bed!”.
I said, “I strongly object!
You should show some respect!”,
But Holly was real wicked like Ted!”

After a Night of Roulette
After a night of roulette
With a Kate or Yvette
The bedside clock does say,
“You will pay
For this roulette
Come the day.
Yet with Kate and Yvette
You will continue to play”.
The Inexorable Clock
The slow
Tick tock
Of the inexorable clock
Says “all must go”
In the end,
Though some pretend
‘Tis not so”.

When I Found Old Father Time
When I found old Father Time
Trapped within a very ancient rhyme,
And he did shout,
“Please let me out!”,
I said, “all in good time!”
My Shadow
My shadow
Does pass
Along the sunlit path.
My shadow will go
Into the woods
I so love.
Nell Who Went Down to Hell
When a wicked young lady named Nell
Died and went straight down to Hell,
She said, with a sigh,
“I do miss the sky,
And this Hell has a terrible smell!”
Miss White’s Rose
When a young lady named White
Showed me her rose last night,
I admired that flower
For many an hour.
Then her boyfriend started a fight!
Fumbling Hands
I have gone with desire
And jumped into the fire
And have found
A truth profound:
That all flesh tires
And hands that fumble
Must crumble
Into dust.
I Saw a Young Lady in Red
I saw a young lady in red
Standing in my room on her head.
I said to her, “Bess,
I do like your dress,
But why is it covering your head!”
