Forest Glade

The forest peaceful lies
Under English skies.
The rain will come
Ere the sun
Casts it’s rays,
As in bygone days
On pools
Where schools
Of fish splash
And seeing the herron, dash
For cover
Lest he discover
Their woodland joy
And with a stab precise, their life destroy.

A review of my latest collection of poetry, “Lost in the Labyrinth of My Mind”

Thank you to Emma Lee for taking the time to read and review my latest collection of poetry, “Lost in the Labyrinth of My Mind”. You can find Emma’s review here, https://emmalee1.wordpress.com/2016/05/11/lost-in-the-labyrinth-of-my-mind-k-morris/.

Birds

Outside my window the birds twitter.
No bitter
Singing from those who live, yet know it not.
Their lot
Is a happy one,
For they are here then gone
Without foreknowledge that the sky will darken.
I will harken
To another song.

The long
Summer nights have arrived.
Why do I strive
For delights
Of a different kind,
When I find
In the birds
A truth surpassing words?

“The Light Of Dawn And Other Poems” By Victoria (Tori) Zigler – Book Review

“The Light Of Dawn” by Victoria (Tori) Zigler is a highly enjoyable and thought provoking collection of poetry. The poems range from verse dealing with the passing of the seasons through to poems about the natural world and more humorous verses. In the latter category “The Finest Young Man From New York” made me smile as did the author’s other humorous poems.
As regards the more serious poems in this collection, Victoria’s “Time Stopped” particularly resonated with me,
“I swear this night won’t end
No Matter what I do.
I wish the time would change
Like I want it to”.
We have all, I believe been in the self-same situation of wishing that the clock would move on allowing us to leave a given situation, only to feel that time has become stuck and we must, forever remain trapped.
The author’s poem, “Appearance” also struck me. In “Appearance” she asks why people worry so much about how people look. Why indeed? Are there not far more important issues in the world we should concern ourselves with.
The collection contains several poems dealing with fairies. Children will love these as will adults with an interest in folk tales.

A 5 Star Review Of “Dalliance; A Collection Of Poetry And Prose”

I was delighted to receive the following 5 star review of my book, “Dalliance; A Collection Of Poetry And Prose”:

“Dalliance; A Collection Of Poetry And Prose” Will Soon Be Available In Print

On 23 April I wrote about the release of an expanded edition of my book, “Dalliance; A Collection Of Poetry And Prose”, (http://newauthoronline.com/2015/04/23/an-expanded-edition-of-dalliance-a-collection-of-poetry-and-prose-is-available-for-download/). In that post I mentioned that a print edition of “Dalliance” is in preparation, (I hope this will be available in May 2015).

Given the growth in ebook sales why, you may ask have I decided to produce a print edition of “Dalliance”?

There are several reasons:

  1. A number of family and friends prefer print books over their electronic counterparts. Indeed I know of at least one family member who would struggle with an ebook. I could, of course print off copies and distribute them to family and friends. However I would rather present my readers with a professionally produced book than a publication held together by staples or contained in a ring binder.
  2. I like traditional books. Being blind I can’t read print books (most of my reading takes place using the text to speech facility on my Kindle). I do, however love the feel and scent of paper books. A beautifully produced book is an object to be cherished not only for its value as a means of communicating stories, information etc, but also as a thing of beauty possessed of intrinsic worth.
  3. I want to have a copy of “Dalliance” on my real (not merely Kindle) shelves.
  4. I intend to donate print copies of “Dalliance” to local businesses and service providers allowing those who would not otherwise come across my writing to do so. I will, of course gain the permission of said businesses. I intend to sidle up to business owners dressed in dark glasses and a rain coat which has seen better days and ask in a low tone while glancing furtively over my shoulder,

“Would you like something a little different?”

Then, prior to the police being called I will hand over my book!

If you would like a print copy of “Dalliance” please email me at newauthoronline (at) gmail.com putting “Dalliance” in the subject line.
