A 5 star review of “The Selected Poems of K Morris”

I was delighted to receive the below review of my “Selected Poems”:

“it was amazing

This is a wonderful collection of poems by this author. I remember many of them from other collections I’ve read by him, but didn’t mind reading those again. It was difficult to pick favourites to mention in this review, because I have half a dozen favourites just from section one (the book is split in to several sections). I really love the poem “Why Do I Write?” though. “Lost” and “Raining” are also favourites of mine.”

There Once Was A PM Called Boris

There once was a PM called Boris
Who, whilst reading The Odes of Horace,
Spied the Downing Street Cat
With a rather large rat,
Which rather put the PM off Horace!

There Once Was An Extremely Controversial Pamphlateer

There once was an extremely controversial pamphleteer
Who went by the name of Lear.
He resembled a moose,
Crossed with a goose,
In looks he was really quite queer!

A Young Lady Whose Name Is Heart

A young lady whose name is Heart
Is a producer of extremely fine art.
I have oft seen her etching,
Although I’m more into my sketching,
But I’m very fond of Miss Heart!

Autumn

The scent of autumn is soon gone.
I shall live on
For a time
And take joy in rhyme
And the leaves
That please
Me
As they fall from a myriad
Tree.
I am glad
To forget my care
In this autumn air.
And shall learn to be
At one with leaf and tree.

A Young Lady Whose Name is Claire

A young lady whose name is Claire
Likes older men who have grey hair,
But on seeing mine,
She refused to dine,
She’s a fickle young lady is Claire!

Gazelle

Graceful as a gazelle.
Tall and slim.
He knows well
That she is not for him.

Perhaps a man ought
Not to sin in thought
When he knows well
That a gazelle
Is not for him.
But what harm
To dream of the charm
Of a gazelle?
For all our lust
Must end in dust
And life is too short
To concern oneself with ought.
