Amy Who Said She Would Never Blame Me!

Who said she would never blame me!

And a fling with Miss Ling,

And Amy she really did blame me!

Hospital Shadows

In the hospital, shadows come and go

On wards and corridors.

Some return again to sunshine and rain.

While others forever forgo

The delight of sunlight, wind and rain.

And fade on wards.

When a brave young nurse named Maude

Found Death lurking on a hospital ward,

Her and Miss Ling

Grabbed some strong string

And tied him up on that ward!

In the Hospital Garden, in Early Spring

In early spring,

In the hospital garden

No birds sing.

Or perhaps its me

With my thoughts of mortality

Who fails to hear

When they sing to men.

Took her clothes off in the local park,

Her friend Kate

Painted her portrait,

Time Passing

My old blue armchair

Is still there

By the wooden bookcase.

In that space

I sat and read

As the antique clock ticked

My day away.

,

Here, no clock ticks

And my need

Is for these antibiotic drips.

But how I miss

My old bookcase

And the ageing armchair where

I read the day away.

.

When I return again

To my own private place

The tick tock

Of my old clock

From high on the bookcase

Will teach me humility.
