There Once Was a Man Named Ted

There once was a man named Ted
Who recited Chaucer standing on his head.
But a driver called Gus
Said “not on the bus!”,
So he quoted the great Dickens instead!

I agree, Liz. He was attempting to show off his knowledge of the greats of English literature. And, strictly between you and I, I believe the driver was jealous of Ted’s knowledge, hence him asking Ted to stop!
I’m glad you like my poem. Kevin
