Ha ha, good one! I think Ted was just trying to draw attention to himself.
I agree, Liz. He was attempting to show off his knowledge of the greats of English literature. And, strictly between you and I, I believe the driver was jealous of Ted’s knowledge, hence him asking Ted to stop!
