I Am Going Home

I am going home
Today,
Alone
(Save for my dog).
I have been away
For a week or so,
And will be sad
To go
But glad
To return by train.

One day, I shall travel unfamiliar terrain
And find a new home.
I will be
Alone,
But shall I see
A confined space, with a stone
Above?
Or shall I know god’s love?
Or simply die
And be,
No longer I?

Some Go Without A Mack

Some go without a mack
For they disdain
The fickle rain.
They take great pride
In the bareback
Ride.
Of course
The horse
Or mare
So ridden
Will thrill.
But, take care
For the desire
To play with the forbidden,
fire
May, also kill.

She thought something was quite wrong
As he had horns very long,
Which frightened that young lady Balinda!

When A Young Man Named Nick

When a young man named Nick
Threatened me with his walking stick,
I said, “do you happen to know
The boxer known as big, bad Jo?”,
At which Nick dropped his stick!

When The Wife of a Man Named Ed

When the wife of a man named Ed
Found a strange girls shoes under their bed
She said, with a sigh
“I really don’t know why
You must insist on wearing those stilettos, Ed!”.

A Young Lady Whose Name Was Wood

A young lady whose name was Wood
Said, “I shall always be very good,
But, whilst out walking one day
In a field of sweet hay,
She did what she never should!
