Naked

We are born
In naked innocence.
Soon, as man grows
He goes
To the expense of clothes,
As he is from his innocence torn.

We are obsessed
With dress.
A girl’s short skirt
Causes a man to flirt
And desire to Perceive
Eve
As she was in Paradise,
(But now in vice)
For tis impossible to recreate
Eden’s state.

Perchance the serpent thinks
As he drinks
From the fountain of love,
Of how he fell,
As star dust
From the sky above,
Into this heaven, this hell,
And now is bound
All around,
With what some call love, and others lust

Ethereal

In honour of the changing seasons, here is my poem, “Ethereal”:

“Sunlight slants through branches.
The ethereal girl dances
As the poet romances
Her
Out of the summer air.

The trill
Of an evening blackbird
Is heard.
Then without a word
She is gone,
Though in his heart she lives on.

Perchance
She will dance
Once more
When Autumn winds roar,
And clothed in russet gown
We will lie down
And forever, sleep”.

(“Ethereal” can be found in “Refractions”, which is available from Amazon, as an ebook and can be found here, https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01L5UC2H2).

We Dance In A Ring

We dance in a ring
In spring
When the roses bloom
And little think on winter’s tomb.

We cavort
In the summer sun
With unstaid maid
And give but little thought
To how the deer does run
Towards the setting sun.

In autumn, when leaves fall
We recall
Life’s joys and gall
Ere winter makes a bed
For lover’s head.

There Is An Equalitie In The Grave

There is an equalitie in the grave
Where the brave,
The coward, the rich and the poor
All must bow down,, to death’s all conquering law.

In the beds of the living,
There may be mutual giving
And equalitie,
But love may not always be free
