I see fallen leaves blown
Hither and thither,
And I wonder whither,
Time has flown

I Saw Carefree Spring Kiss Winter Goodbye
I
Saw carefree spring kiss
Winter goodbye.
And I
Found bliss
Midst newly opened flowers
That time devours.
I saw summer hot
Take the spring,
But cared not
For I
Was still in love with spring.
I saw autumn come,
With her gentle sun
And knew my hours
Midst sweet flowers
Must fade away.
Now, on a winter’s day
I think on the flower’s bloom
Which is, so soon
Gone,
And on my grey hair,
And I wonder where,
The carefree, spring has gone.
An Autumn Bird
An autumn bird
I heard
Sing
Ere the sky
Grew bright,
And I
Thought of spring,
And eternal night.
Decay
I smell the decay
On an autumn day.
I shall rhyme
For a time,
For fallen leaves
Do not deceive.
Three Autumn Poems read by Poet Kevin Morris
Here are three poems ‘Autumn’, ‘Autumn Fly’ and ‘Bush in the Rain’ read by me. The poems are illustrated by photographs of the autumn woods, taken by my friend Shanelle.
BUSH IN THE RAIN
AUTUMN
AUTUMN FLY
Autumn (an Acrostic)
August has long since ceased to be.
Upon the forest floor,
The oak and Chestnut has shed its store,
Unceremoniously, of conker and acorn.
Mulch for the lawn,
Now leaves feed the ground.
Life and Death
In this wood
That I love
Things live and die.
Birds fly
Above
My head
Whilst, on the ground
The leaves lie,
Brown,
And dead
Through Nude Trees
Through Nude trees
An autumn breeze
Does gust.
This season will pass
And all my lust
For a pretty lass
With whom I would make free
Will be
As the summer grass,
Long since past.
Autumn Fly
An autumn fly
Buzzes around my head.
Summer is dead
Yet will not die.
Seasons pass.
We are brittle as glass
This fly
And I.
Someone Has Swept
Someone has swept
The leaves to the side
Of the path.
Autumn has crept
Up on me, And I
Can not decide
Whether I ought
To laugh
Or sigh,
For I
Can compose a rhyme
To tyme,
But he
Can not be bought
By me.
