Poetry readathon

Today, I am delighted to welcome poet and blogger, Lorraine Lewis to Robbie’s inspiration. Lorraine blogs at https://blindwilderness.wordpress.com/ and shares some lovely and moving poetry.

A poem for my father

Through the mullioned windows I saw the sheep,

Illuminated by the sun,

As I gazed at them my spirit danced,

Then they disappeared behind the hill,

Now, again, all seemed dark,

I waited, hoping that they would come back.

To my delight they soon came back,

Huge was this flock of sheep,

When they returned it was no longer dark,

Again I could see the sun,

But they went again, behind the hill,

So I got on my feet and danced.

I remembered another dark day when I’d danced,

Though I knew he was not coming back,

With him I climbed that enormous hill,

Rugged, just as it was for the sheep,

I longed for him to see the…

About The Selected Poems of K Morris

This book encompasses poems composed between 2013-19. The poems included here have been selected from ‘Lost in the Labyrinth of my Mind’, ‘My Old Clock I Wind and other poems’, ‘The Writer’s Pen and other poems’, ‘Dalliance; a collection of poetry and prose’, ‘Refractions’, and ‘The Girl who Wasn’t There’. In addition a number of previously unpublished poems are included in this book.

My review

This beautiful collection of poems by K Morris features some of his best work. The book is divided into four sections, namely, Time and Mortality, Nature, Love and Sensuality and Progress and Human Nature. Kevin’s poetry reflects his ability to see deep into the human soul and each poem speaks to an aspect of human nature or human life such as sexuality, death, aging and even everyday things such as going for a walk, and highlights its uniqueness…

Free book promotion!

My book ‘Streetwalker and other stories’ will be free in the Amazon Kindle Store, from the 11th – 15th October.

In this collection of flash fiction we meet a variety of characters, many of whom have been deeply damaged by life. The stories range from a young prostitute who walks the dangerous streets of London to tales of vengeance and comeuppance. Serious issues of abuse of power are touched upon. Anyone who is looking for a comfortable read should avoid this book.

‘Streetwalker and other stories’ is available here for the UK and here for the US.

Blast from the past!

Back in 2015 I released ‘Dalliance; a collection of poetry and prose’ in Kindle and Paperback format. Whilst the Kindle version is still available, the Paperback version (pictured below) is out of print. The Paperback was published by an independent publisher, who have since gone out of business, hence the print book is perhaps, something of a collectors item!

As those of you who follow this blog will know, my ‘Selected Poems’ and ‘The Writer’s Pen’ are available in Kindle and Paperback format. I hope, in the not too distant future, to reissue ‘Dalliance’ in Paperback.

Dalliance is available here for the UK and here for the US.

Dalliance

‘In this world, where nothing really exists, I kiss your cold, dead lips. Meaningless dalliance in this land of the dead, no words spoken: there is nothing to be said. Emotions stifled, frozen in ice, held in deaths stone grip.’

My thanks to my friend Shanelle for taking the below photographs, which show me holding a copy of my recently released Selected Poems. For anyone who is visually impaired, the front cover shows a close up image of bluebells in Spa Woods, a wooded area close to the poets home in Upper Norwood. Spa Woods was once part of The Great North Wood, and contains many ancient oaks. The back cover is also shown, and displays a picture of the poet at the entrance to Spa Woods, close to an historic house.

The Selected Poems of K Morris are available in ebook and Paperback here for the UK and here for the US.

Celebrate National Poetry Day

Today (3 October) is National Poetry Day here in the United Kingdom. This years theme is truth, although you can write about anything, https://nationalpoetryday.co.uk/celebrate-national-poetry-day/.

To celebrate National Poetry Day I am publishing my poem “Shadows On The Wall”:

“Shadows on the wall,

I recall.

One cannot catch a shade,

For it is made

Of moonbeams

And passing dreams”.

“Shadows On The Wall” can be found in “The Selected Poems of K Morris”, which is available in paperback and Kindle formats here, https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07WW8WXPP/.

If you wish to share a poem you can use the hashtag #NationalPoetryDay.
