Samantha by K Morris is Free in the Amazon Kindle Store until Friday 3 February

I am pleased to announce that my short story Samantha is currently free in the Amazon Kindle store, https://www.amazon.co.uk/Samantha-K-Morris-ebook/dp/B00BL3CNHI. The free promotion will end on Friday 3 February.

Samantha

Samantha tells the story of a young woman forced into prostitution in the city of Liverpool. Can Sam survive or will she end her days in the murky waters of Liverpool’s Albert Dock.

I grew up in Liverpool and return there frequently to visit family. Consequently I know the city well and a number of Liverpool landmarks feature in Samantha.

If you do download Samantha do please consider leaving a review.

Many thanks. Kevin

Free book promotion!

My book ‘Streetwalker and other stories’ will be free in the Amazon Kindle Store, from the 11th – 15th October.

In this collection of flash fiction we meet a variety of characters, many of whom have been deeply damaged by life. The stories range from a young prostitute who walks the dangerous streets of London to tales of vengeance and comeuppance. Serious issues of abuse of power are touched upon. Anyone who is looking for a comfortable read should avoid this book.

‘Streetwalker and other stories’ is available here for the UK and here for the US.

One can not “force” book sales

Checking my Gmail spam folder, I came across a solicitation, from a book promotion service, inviting me to advertise my work on their website. The following paragraph particularly caught my attention:

“The (name of site redacted by me) specialize in making
sure that your book gets seen by readers
as well as media on major platforms to force
sales and with clear visibility”.

I am a simple soul and struggle to comprehend how one can “force” sales. As anyone with a rudimentary grasp of the English language knows, the word “force” implies coercion, compulsion etc. The use of the word “force” conjures up images of readers being frog marched to virtual check-outs and being compelled to part with their money. A virtual version of “stand and deliver” if you like. Surely this is not what the company in question mean by their employment of the word “force”.
One can not “force” another to do something against their will without the employment of blackmail, and/or the threat of (or actual utilisation of) violence. I am sure the organisation in question are not in any way advocating the use of such methods. None the less their use of the word “force” is sloppy in the extreme and does not inspire me with confidence regarding the service on offer. Consequently I wont be signing up with this outfit.

Do you have a book coming out and want to let others know about it?

I am happy to share news of forthcoming books. If you have a book coming out and would like to share it, please send the details to me at newauthoronline (at) gmail dot com. Please contact me (if at all possible) at least a week prior to the publicity being required.

Many thanks

Kevin

Free Kindle Reading Apps

I well recall telling an acquaintance I had published an e-book, on Amazon only to be told that she would love to read it but, unfortunately she did not own a Kindle. In point of fact you don’t need to own a Kindle in order to read e-books sold in the Kindle store. Kindle books can be read on your PC together with a number of other devices including Android phones and Apple products, the only cost (apart from that of the purchase of the device itself) being that entailed in purchasing the e-book as all of the apps are free! For details of Kindle’s free reading apps please visit http://www.amazon.com/gp/feature.html?ie=UTF8&docId=1000493771&ref=kcp_ipad_mkt_lnd.

Free Book Promotion

My collection of short stories, The First Time, is free in the Amazon Kindle store from 4-8 October. In this collection of short stories I explore why young women enter the world of prostitution while other stories look at what happens when the

worlds of sex and technology collide.

In “The First Time”, the first story in this collection, we meet Becky a young graduate who enters the world of prostitution in order to clear her debts.

The story looks at the effects of prostitution on Becky and her fellow escort and friend Julie. In “The Pain Behind the Smile” Issie presents her friend,

Peter with a birthday cake, however things are not what they seem.

In “Lucy” the acquaintances of a crusty old bachelor speculate how he could attract and retain the affections of a beautiful young woman. As with “The

Pain Behind the Smile” things are far from what they seem.

“Hemlock” explores what happens when machines attain the capacity to appreciate high culture. The story is both humorous and deeply serious.
