A tall bramble
Fed by rain
Caught my eye.
The bramble
Will remain
Fed by rain
From a troubled sky.
And man may stay,
Or simply die.
She asked me
What I like
One summer night.
I told her.
‘Twas no affair.
Just a man’s passing pleasure
With one who would never
Be his under normal circumstance.
A quick dance
For my pleasure
In summer weather.
And the clock …
Is there a recorder, somewhere
Noting down our every act?
I doubt the fact
Of god
But who has not
In the depths of dreams
Heard the recorder
That does die with I,
And seen
The thick black book
Wherein his every sin
Is writ?
And when he is gone
The record lives on
Be it known or not.
