Lying there
You appear not to care.
A motion,
A building ocean.
A reaction,
Leading to a kind of satisfaction
On someone’s part
While the heart
Sighs
And inwardly dies

I am pleased to publish the below announcement by my author friend, Victoria (Tori) Zigler:
The Ocean’s Lullaby And Other Poems
By Victoria Zigler
Published: July 09, 2016
“A collection of more than 40 poems of various styles and lengths, many of which have an ocean theme to them.
As well as having an ocean theme in many cases, the poems in this collection explore a variety of other themes, using a variety of different tones; some funny, and others of a more serious nature. Themes include holidays, animals, imagination and creativity, depression and grief, among others; often overlapping with the ocean theme.”

Midnight Rose
No light garish and red
Only night’s dead hour,
and the flower
Whose bloom
Was gone to soon.
The moon
Shonne on
The rose picked
And stripped
By the wind that trifles,
Rifles,
And is gone.
Victoria Zigler, Books Available In Paperback
I am pleased to publish the below announcement by my friend, author Victoria (Tori) Zigler:
For those who don’t know, I write poetry, as well as books for children of various ages.
Back in 2012, I started publishing my books in multiple eBook formats. Then, in early 2015, I decided it was way past time I started making my books available in paperback for those who still prefer physical copies of books.
Now, more than a year later, I’m pleased to be able to report that I’m all caught up with my backlist, and every book of mine for which the publication date has been and gone, is now available not just in multiple eBook formats, but also in paperback too.
The eBooks are available via Smashwords, Barnes & Noble, Apple iBooks, Kobo, and the other places Smashwords distributes to. Plus, if your local library supports eBook lending, you may be able to find my books as eBooks there (or request that your library orders copies).
The paperbacks are available via CreateSpace, Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and any other places CreateSpace books are available from, including any libraries happy to order copies.
Future titles will also be made available as paperbacks as well as eBooks.

Muddy
Thoughts muddy
I will forsake
And take
Refuge in my study,
Among poets who speak
Words that endure beyond a week.
I shall sit listening to birdsong.
The long
Summer days willimperceptibly turn
Into Autumn. I shall the world spurn
And yearn
For Keat’s Nightingale.
Where I
Where I a mouse
That wanders through my neighbour’s house,
I could observe with care
The joys and sorrows of him and her.
Where I a fly
Who all things doth spy
I could grieve
For the love I perceive
Blossom then die.
But I am a man
And have not the art
To gaze into my neighbour’s heart,
And possessing my own cares
Meddle not in other’s affairs.
The competition to win a signed copy of “Lost in the Labyrinth of My Mind” is now closed
Earlier today I offered readers the chance to win a free signed print copy of my latest collection of poetry, “Lost in the Labyrinth of My Mind”, (https://newauthoronline.com/2016/06/25/your-chance-to-win-a-signed-copy-of-my-book-lost-in-the-labyrinth-of-my-mind/). Thank you to everyone who shared my post. I am pleased to announce that a winner has emerged and the competition is now closed.
The answer to the question posed, is Sir Arthur Conan Doyle who was born in Edinburgh in 1859 and died in 1930. The quote comes from “The Speckled Band, which can be found in “The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes”. Holmes is speaking of Doctor Grimesby Roylott. If you haven’t read “The Speckled Band” I strongly recommend doing so, (http://etc.usf.edu/lit2go/32/the-adventures-of-sherlock-holmes/352/adventure-8-the-adventure-of-the-speckled-band/).

School Days
I recall The library’s high shelves
Where I would delve
For books.
Often I forsook
My peers
To read
And on solitude feed.
All those years
Gone by.
I sigh
And wonder why
The past holds such sway.
And we humans lose ourselves in yesterday.
Oh how easy it is to perspective lack
As we gaze back
Down childhood’s track.
I remember the schoolyard’s din
And the wanting to join in.
Sometimes I ran with the crowd
Yet my nature proud
Held me apart
And I solace found in art.
I see the library now
And wonder how
The school goes on
Now that I am gone
An whether books still stand
Waiting to command
The future poet’s hand.
Waltz
It takes a couple to waltz.
With beauty charming
And character disarming
She does dance
And romance
Until the sun’s ray’s lance
The comforting dark
And a new day starts.
Both parties are willing
But does the payment of a shilling
To the girl
Who does so seductively twirl
Render their interaction
An exploititive transaction
And the waltz false?
