My Old Clock I wind and Other Poems, by K Morris

Shall I sit out this dance
As the dancers prance
Heedlessly by.
Why
On occasions Can I not join in
With my companions and grin?

The song
Of the throng
Helps me forget
And yet
I am not as other men,
For when
I smile
There is, all the while
Within
The knowledge of this temporary din.

Others see it too
But construe
Me speaking of such a thing
As bad form and bring
The conversation around
To matters less profound.
But, when they are alone
Do they not think on skin and bone?

I can reduce my companions to laughter
With my jokes, but after
Our fun
Is done
Closing time will come.

Of Beds And Such

What is a double bed?
A place where the dread
Of what comes after this brief life
Is momentarily lost in the arms of mistress or wife.

What is a double bed?
A place where the lone head sleeps
And sometimes weeps.

What is a double bed?
A place of joy and pain,
Where we return again and again
Until we are slain
By the final sleep.

“The Writer’s Pen and Other Poems”, an update regarding the forthcoming audio edition

On 3 September 2018, I published “The Writer’s Pen and Other Poems” as an e-book, https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07GD1LBMV/.

I am pleased to announce that I have now found a narrator for the audio edition of “The Writer’s Pen” and I’m looking forward to working with Alex Lee, and hope that the audio version will be available in time for Christmas.

Alex can be found here, https://www.alexleeaudio.uk and here, https://www.acx.com/narrator?p=AUB7ELH213R4M.

For the audio edition of my collection of poems, “My Old Clock I Wind please visit https://www.amazon.com/dp/B077VZTM3V/.

“The Writer’s Pen and Other Poems” (forthcoming audio edition)

I am in the process of arranging for my latest collection of poems, “The Writer’s Pen and Other Poems” to be recorded and made available as an audio download. (“The Writer’s Pen” is currently available, as an e-book in the Kindle store and can be found here, https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07GD1LBMV/).

I hope that my collection will be available, to purchase from audible.co.uk and audible.com by Christmas 2018.

My previous collection, “My Old Clock I Wind and Other Poems” is available, as an audio download from audible.co.uk and audible.com, and can be found here, https://www.amazon.com/dp/B077VZTM3V/.

Currently I am in the process of deciding whether to record “The Writer’s Pen” myself or whether to assign that task to a professional actor or actress.

Once “The Writer’s Pen and Other Poems” is available in audio format I shall, of course post a link here.

Author News for Poet Kevin Morris

I was delighted to receive the braille edition of my collection of poems, “The Writer’s Pen and Other Poems” through the post today.

I had emailed The Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB) on 8 August with a request that my book be transcribed into braille. On the same date I received an acknowledgement of my request and today (as already mentioned) my pamphlet was delivered. Hats off to RNIB for their excellent work!

My previous collection, “My Old Clock I Wind and Other Poems” is also available, in braille from the RNIB, https://newauthoronline.com/2017/08/09/my-old-clock-i-wind-and-other-poems-is-available-in-braille-from-rnib/.

The ebook and print versions of “The Writer’s Pen and Other Poems” will be available in September, so the braille edition is the first on the block!

RNIB have provided me with my own personal copy of “The Writer’s Pen” (it is not currently available for loan or sale from them). I will, however contact RNIB with a request that they add my latest collection to their stock in order that it is available to other braille users.

As many of you will know, I was honoured to be interviewed by Ariadne Sawyer, of The World Poetry Reading Series, on Thursday 9 August, https://newauthoronline.com/2018/08/05/kevins-poetry-to-be-featured-on-the-world-poetry-reading-series-at-110-pm-on-thursday-9-august/, regarding “The Writer’s Pen and Other Poems”.

I am pleased to report that the interview went well (my phone behaved itself and I dialled in 10 minutes prior to the start of the interview)!

I shall post a link to the podcast of my interview once this becomes available.
