Humorous Saturday

When my friend whose name is Lou
Introduced me to a girl called Sue,
We went to a little hotel
With a young lady named Nell,
To attend a conference all about glue!

When my friend whose name is Lou
Introduced me to a girl called Sue,
We went to a little hotel
With a young lady named Nell,
Where I lost a brand new shoe!

When my friend whose name is Lou
Introduced me to a girl called Sue,
We went to a little hotel
With a young lady named Nell,
(Who is an expert on strong glue)!

When a detective whose name is Holmes
Investigated the case of “The Missing Bones”,
He said, “’tis nothing profound
As I have easily found
That ’twas Fido who took those bones!”,

Some Wear Their Heart Upon Their Sleeve

Some wear their heart upon their sleeve
And the world does grieve
To see such display.
Others go a different way
And conceal
Their guile
Behind a smile.
While poets may reveal
What does lie
In their heart
Through their art,
So readers may see,
Or not as the case may be.

When A Young Lady Named Moriah

When a young lady named Moriah
Married my old friend the squire,
I visited their great estate
With my young mistress Kate,
Which greatly pleased the squire!

I Am Going Home

I am going home
Today,
Alone
(Save for my dog).
I have been away
For a week or so,
And will be sad
To go
But glad
To return by train.

One day, I shall travel unfamiliar terrain
And find a new home.
I will be
Alone,
But shall I see
A confined space, with a stone
Above?
Or shall I know god’s love?
Or simply die
And be,
No longer I?

Some Go Without A Mack

Some go without a mack
For they disdain
The fickle rain.
They take great pride
In the bareback
Ride.
Of course
The horse
Or mare
So ridden
Will thrill.
But, take care
For the desire
To play with the forbidden,
fire
May, also kill.

Can One Copyright A Phrase

An interesting piece in “The Guardian” concerning a dispute about the copyrighting of the phrase “100% that Bitch”.

I must confess to being unfamiliar with the work of either of the artists involved in this dispute (Mina Lioness and Lizzo), but perhaps some of my younger readers are.

An Author’s Response to a Copyright Infringer

When a young lady named White
Said, “I don’t believe in copyright”,
I stole her purse,
Which made her curse,
But me, I think its right!
