Cage

He said, “I have wrought
What I ought
Not to have wrought
And bought
What I ought
Not to have bought.
I have caught
the wild bird
Who’s song I heard
In the lonely night.
Once delight
Of a kind, semed sweet to you and me
And we believed ourselves to be free”.

She said, “There can be no mistaking
That I flew into a cage
Of my own making
And now I rage
Against my own stupidity
And cupidity.
Expensive bras
Make for sturdy bars.
The truth is, you a bird caught
But together we rought
This cage
In which we now both uselessly rage

Summer Days

Summer dresses
And sweet caresses.
Perfect days
Lost in a lovers haze.
Her porcelain shoulder
His arms enfold her.
Getting older.
The porcelain cracks
She lacks
His attention.
There is contention
over that pretty blonde
Its all going wrong.
‘Tis the same old song
Lust is strong
And mice play
When the cats away.

The Things Men Do

The things men do,
The words they say,
Little thinking that they must pay.
The secret trist.
Man can not resist.
perfume on a girl’s wrist.
A stray hair
upon the stair.
You swear
she wasn’t there.
The crumpled bed.
The dread
of neighbours who tell
How they heard the bell
ring late
and reveal
the click of heel
On stair.
You swear
She wasn’t there!

Can I touch Your Face?

Being blind

I sometimes find

myself wondering what women look like.

With little sight

it is impossible to tell

so why do I on this subject dwell?

I do perceive

that a voice may deceive.

Girlish tones

Can belong to old crones.

A scent draws me in

thoughts of skin

and sin.

“Would you like to touch my face?”

“This is not the place

my dear.

People are near.

Besides we have only just met.

I don’t even know your name yet”!

She lingers.

Thinking of sensitive fingers

Loss of sight

does not equal no delight …

I am

I am the one you pass without a second glance.

I am the one who can dance

my feet

moving to a forbidden beat.

I am the work that keeps him late

While at home you wait.

I am the scent that lingers

On fingers.

I am a smile

A guilty denial.

I am the bump that grows

Fingers and toes.

I am new life.

You are his wife.

I Am The Girl Who Wasn’t There

I am the girl who wasn’t there.

I did not sit upon that chair,

playing provocatively with my hair.

I did not drink that expensive wine,

While gazing on your paintings fine.

I did not recline under the quilt so red,

Or moan with exstasy in your bed.

If by chance, an earing she should find,

Worry not, it is not mine.

Emotional Investment or Negative Transaction?

A bit of deepness for the day…

How much do we invest in things and people and how much do we see in our returns?

When we pay for goods with our money, we expect to see material evidence of this transaction or indeed a memorable experience to file away. But what if

we made a transaction and checked our account to see a big fat zero?

I’m sure many of us would be seeking clarification and feeling rather cheated.

Yet, we invest in everything in life to varied degrees and we don’t always receive the booty.

How many times have you emotionally invested and been left with a big bag of nothing and perceived injustice?

But we continue to do this.

Why?

Emotional investment is indeed a gamble. We automatically invest in our families and reap the benefits from support mechanisms and security but what about

when we invest in friendship and relationships?

What do we do if the cheque continues to bounce??

Do we feel justified in seeking clarification and interest on our emotional transaction? Is it a weakness or a strength to expect a credit statement? To

expect to see our emotional interest rates increasing?

Personally I seek this from my significant other. I expect my balance to remain in credit and I believe that this theory works both ways. I do expect a

return in friendships and to see a mutual healthy transaction taking place. We attend our jobs and expect a salary in return. We invest our time in our

passions and reap the positive emotions. We gain knowledge and gain personal achievement and development. So are we allowing ourselves to be ‘ripped off’?

Self-awareness and integrity is an important part of sustaining a good ‘credit’ history. To enable a healthy profit, we also need to remain vigilant and

consider the ratio of risk to healthy investment. Financially… we do. Emotionally and psychologically we often don’t.

How many times do we support friends and give to others only to feel unappreciated and disappointed?

A satisfactory transaction is a two way process and we need to keep our expectations high. Who wants faulty and non – returnable goods? If we expect less,

surely we will receive less.

The link to our psyche is surprising yet logical. Our psychological interpretation impacts on our emotional stance and how we perceive our external world.

This affects the value we put onto ourselves.

Make every transaction worthwhile… or simply ask for a refund.

The mind of a deep thinker…or complete rubbish…it is all down to interpretation and perception…
