When A Young Man Whose Name is Bert

When a young man whose name is Bert
Said, “I demand that you iron my shirt”,
A young maiden called Nelly
Covered him in much Jelly,
But she’s always been known as a flirt!

When a young man whose name is Bert
Said, “I demand that you iron my shirt”,
A young maiden called Nelly
Covered him in much jelly,
And bert, he bought a brand new shirt!

When A Young Man Whose Name is Hurd

When a young man whose name is Hurd
Said, “poets are the unacknowledged legislators of the word”,
A girl called Nelly
Replied, “so said Shelley,
But the last word, you’ve got that wrong Hurd!”.

(the correct quotation is, of course “poets are the unacknowledged legislators of the world”).

Losing Track

Losing track
Of heels.
In a line,
Women and wine.
No turning back,
Losing track
Of heels.

(The reference to “women and wine” was inspired by https://poetry.elcore.net/CatholicPoets/Dowson/Dowson51.html, although in Dowson’s poem it is “woman and wine”, not “women and wine” which is referred to).

Review copies of my “Selectted Poems” will soon be available

Yesterday (6 August), I emailed my “Selected Poems” for final proof reading, (something I always do prior to pressing that “publish” button on Amazon)!

If you are interested in receiving a free (advanced) electronic copy in return for writing an honest review, please contact me at kmorrispoet (at) gmail . com, (the address is rendered thus to defeat spammers)! Please put “Review copy of K Morris Selected Poems” in the subject line of your email.

All being well, my “Selected Poems” will be available in ebook and paperback formats by end August.

When A Young Lady Whose Name Is White

When a young lady whose name is White
Said, “would you like to fight tonight?”
And I replied, “I don’t fight young women
But I’m into all kinds of hot sinning,
She said, “you are out of luck tonight!”.

A Young Lady Whose Name Is Claire

A young lady whose name is Claire
Claims that we are having an affair,
But that’s simply not true,
And her missing black shoe,,
I don’t know how it got there!

A Young Lady Whose Name Is Claire

A young lady whose name is Claire
Is engaged in a most sordid affair,
Whilst a married man called Ted
Climbs into a large double bed,
But that’s nothing to do with Claire!

An 18-year-old girl’s hair

Unaware as her hair
Brushes against my hand.
Pleasure rushes.
Then, again.
I maintain
My composure.
For a disclosure
Would embarrass both me and her.
And, after all its only her hair
That touches
My hand.

Middle-age clutches
At what can not be
For, you see
The truth
Is that age can not command
A youth
Who is unaware
Of the power of her hair
To excite delight
In a middle-aged man’s heart,
And find expression in art.
