I am pleased to announce that a podcast of my interview on Vancouver Co-Op Radio’s The World Poetry Reading Series is now available and can be found here, http://www.coopradio.org/content/world-poetry-caf%C3%A9-186. The show was broadcast at 9 pm (UK time) on Thursday 26 August, and my segment begins approximately 18 minutes into the podcast. In addition, at the end of the show I read my poem “My Old Clock I Wind”.

My thanks to Ariadne Sawyer of The World Poetry Reading Series for her kindness in allowing me to read and discuss my poetry.

She Has Not Much to Lose

She has not much to lose
Save for her shoes,
For her legs are almost bare
To the summer air.

And one must confess
That’s not much of a dress.
But when attending confession
She shows some discretion.

So lets not cast aspersions
Nor bear a grudge
For I have heard assertions
Her favourite is a judge!

Poet Kevin Morris to Appear on Vancouver Co-Op Radio’s the World Poetry Reading Series at 9 pm (UK time) on Thursday 26 August 2021

I am delighted to announce that I will be appearing on Vancouver Co-Op Radio’s The World Poetry Reading Series at 9 pm (UK time) on Thursday 26 August. Due to the wonders of Zoom, the recording will take place at 7 pm this evening and be broadcast 4 days later.

A podcast of my interview will, I understand be available after the show for those who are unable to listen on Thursday evening. You can find details of the World Poetry Reading Series here http://www.coopradio.org/content/world-poetry-cafe-2.

During my interview, I shall discuss and read my poetry. Amongst the poems I shall be reading will be several which are due to be included in Croydon Poetry Hour Anthology 2021/22, which is scheduled for publication later this year. I was fortunate to have a number of my poems published in Croydon Poetry Anthology 2019/2020. You can find the 2019/2020 anthology here https://www.lulu.com/en/gb/shop/croydon-poets/croydon-poetry-hour-anthology-201920/paperback/product-rjpqzd.html?page=1&pageSize=4.

My thanks to Ariadne Sawyer of World Poetry Reading Series for her kindness in featuring me and my work on her show.

Anticipation of Dissipation

His anticipation of dissipation.
There will be wine
With a girl divine.
Just his type.
And she may stay
For the night.

He sends her train fair.
“I’m on my way”
Her Watsap will say.
He goes to buy wine.
While she smiles
And remains online.

Like a Bad Penny

Like a bad penny
You turned up at my door.
I have seen many
Of your kind before.

At first, I didn’t remember you.
Then, I did recall a fall,
And opened my door
To you, who brought a thought
To mind …

They say
The past is another country.
I find
It binds me to thee.

I could have shown you the door.
But birds of our feather flock together
And we both recall
My slip and fall.

Does the Devil Read or Write Poetry?

Does the Devil
Read or write poetry?
It might be so
For compassion’s glow
May burn low
In the wickedest heart.
And camp guards
Listened to Mozart.
