When a most forgetful old lady named Moriah
Asked, “what has happened to the British Empire?”,
And they said, “it is long gone!”,
She sighed and said, “eaten by Ron”.
She’s a most amusing old lady is Moriah!

I suspect her hearing isn’t what it used to be. My 2 grandmothers were both a bit deaf, and listening to conversations between them was hilarious.
I suspect you may be right about the deafness, Vivienne. I also know to gentlemen who are deaf and it can be amusing and sometimes rather frustrating when conversing with them!
