The Final Day of August

The final day of August
Brings Autumn’s coming chill.
Perhaps this is the last
Of Summer’s new-mown grass.
The eternal breeze
Rustles the leaves
And my once brown hair.

I’m pleased you like this poem of mine, Michael. You never know, perhaps it will be a mild winter. In point of fact, I do relish the variety of the seasons. It would become tedious where it to be forever summer. Kevin

That is interesting that you call it Bavarian Siberia! I have always wanted to visit Germany, and hope to do so one day. I find it interesting that in Bavaria you have the Christian Social Union while, in the rest of Germany it is the Christian Democratic Union. I guess that this is due to the distinctive identity of the Bavarian region. Kevin

Thoughts of autumn, yes. But I agree with Michael. 12 months of summer would be boring. But it would have been nice to hace had a couple of summer months this year?

I do like all of the UK’s seasons Vivienne, including Summer. However I am not a fan of extreme heat. So I agree it would have been nice to have experienced mor of a Summer, but not one with temperatures in the high 20’s or even more extreme highs. Thanks for commenting. Best wishes. Kevin
