No More
Once I desired the fecund fruit.
Passion’s flute
Sounded loud and clear.
Now I hear
The great tide withdraw.
Venus shall tread no more
On this barren shore.
Flowers In A Jar
Venus’s star
Will shine bright
Tonight
On flowers in a jar.
Lovers will raise
A glass in praise
Of the goddess most fair
And stare
In rapture
At the blooms which so exquisitely capture
The essence of Valentine’s day,
For they
being artificial, can not fade away
Cupid
Consequences hang heavy as scent.
To repent
Is bliss.
But oh, her kiss.
Those heels.
The way she kneels.
Venus has caught
All my thought
And brought
Me low
Where angels fear to go.
It will end in woe
For cupid’s arrows sharp
Penetrate the most unsuitable of hearts.
Venus In Furs
Venus in furs,
The populace stirs.
“How can a chap so plain,
One lacking a brain,
And so incredibly vane,
A goddess obtain?”
The people declaim.
The reprobate sighs,
“Tis money that buys,
The look of love in her eyes”.
