Dogs and Ponds

My dog of whom I am extremely fond

Has a habit of jumping in the pond.

Then he gets a certain smell

Which I know all too well,

And of which I am not that fond!

(A couple of days ago I took my guide dog Apollo for a walk in Crystal Palace park with my friend and his Rhodesian Ridgeback. Being a Labrador Retriever,  Apollo decided that it would be tremendous fun to go swimming in a pond, twice!)

I am always happy when Apollo has fun, Michael. But the scent of him following on from his dip is not such fun for me or anyone else unfortunate enough to get a wiff after his swim! Enjoy your weekend. Best wishes. Kevin

A neighbour of mine had a golden retriever (sadly now passed on) who constantly jumped into any water she could. (The dog, not the neighbour.) No matter how much her owner called, she still got into the water, and also came out smelly and muddy.
