In the old familiar pub
And touch the wood
Tinged with beers
From bygone years.
Landlords have come and gone
But the pub has continued on.
With delight
The fire’s warm light.
But it’s a summer evening
And there is no firelight.
To brighten this leaving.
To the final table
I am unable
To show my eyes
For men don’t cry

Thank you, Beth.
But you never really will say goodbye as the memories shall live forever in your heart and mind!
That is true, Annette. Thank you for commenting.
A lovely poem Kevin reflecting on a lovely pub. I also recall fond memories of sharing a beer or two with you and others in The Railway Bell on a number of occasions.
Thanks for your lovely comment John, which brings back happy memories tinged with a little sadness. I also remember many happy hours spent in the bell with you and other friends. Best wishes. Kevin
