National Limerick Day

A friend emailed me this morning, with a reminder that it is National Limerick Day, (https://nationaltoday.com/national-limerick-day/). So, in honour of this event I have composed the below limerick:

There was a young lady named Gale
Whose activities made her mother turn pale.
She went out to sea
With a vicar called Lee,
And used her dress as a sail!

There is one requirement for a true limerick that you did not mention. A real limrick should be quite bawdy. I guess this is a GP website.

Thanks for your comment. By “GP” I guess you mean general purpose and/or general poetry? I enjoy all kinds of poetry (including the bawdy). However my limericks tend towards the risque rather than the bawdy. Best, Kevin
