When a young man of Stroud
Wrote, “death be not proud”,
A poet named John Donne
Sued him (just for fun),
And bankrupted that young man of Stroud!

When a young lady whose name is Sue
Got stuck in a public loo,
She said, with a sigh,
“I don’t know why
Someone put glue on this loo!”.
The below poem was written late at night. I don’t often compose poetry on or around midnight. However “Fire” was composed in the wee small hours, when sombre thoughts are wont to come into one’s mind.

I have felt the fire’s power;
It Kindles brightly and sinks within the hour.
I have watched the embers dying fast;
Looked into the future and gazed into the past.
I have raked the ashes cold, felt the bleakness in my soul.
I am blind, and use Job Access with Speech (JAWS) software which converts text into speech and braille enabling me to use a Windows computer or laptop, (http://www.freedomscientific.com/products/software/jaws/). One of the problems I face when navigating the web is the lack (on some sites) of clearly labelled sharing buttons. For example I have lost count of the number of occasions on which I have come across something along the following lines:

(with none of the links being labelled). In such a situation (assuming that I wish to share the content in question), I have no option other than to click on each (unlabelled) link/button until I locate Twitter, Facebook or whatever sharing option I wish to utilise.
When faced with the above situation, I sometimes give up and click away from the post (or other content) without sharing.
The vast majority of site owners (where unlabelled buttons exist) would, I am sure not wish to disadvantage people with visual impairments and are (in most cases) unaware that their site is not fully accessible.
With this post can I please request my fellow internet users/readers to check that the sharing buttons are labelled correctly so that a user of screen reading software such as myself can easily use Twitter, Facebook and other sharing facilities. There is much good will out there and (as previously stated) I know that the vast majority of site owners wish to make their site accessible to all users. So, if you could please take some time to check the accessibility of your site that would be greatly appreciated.

Dogs help us to live in the moment, something we humans are often not very good at doing. As someone who grew up around dogs, and has been lucky enough to work with 4 guide dogs, including my current friend and helper, Trigger, I feel privileged to have known the canine companions who have, for a time, enriched my life).
My head full
Of dull
Thought.
Then the ball you caught
And waving your tail
Did derail
My introspection.
How can I suffer dejection
When I recollect your playful snort
And the ball you caught?
Readers of this blog will notice that the title of my site has changed to “K Morris – Poet”, and the tagline to “Kevin Morris poet”. The web address (newauthoronline.com) remains the same. I have, however added a new subdomain (https://kmorrispoet.com), which will take you to my blog in precisely the same manner as newauthoronline.com.
When I first started this blog, I was a new author, hence the web address newauthoronline.com. However, the vast majority of my writing has, for the last few years consisted of poetry, hence the change in the site’s title and tagline to better reflect the nature of my work (and who I am as a person).
I have no intention of dispensing with the domain newauthoronline.com. So, in practical terms (other than the site’s title and tagline),the only difference you will notice is that my site can also be accessed at https://kmorrispoet.com
