The Cleaners Mop

The cleaners mop

And cobwebs are swept away.

Some patients lust

After pretty nurses. The dust

Must be kept at bay.

But broom and mop

Can not stop

The coming of dust.

The Hospital Fountain

I recall the fountain’s fall

Reminding me of rain.

Hospital  patients come and go.

Sometimes, the water stops,

Then begins again.

But when sickles chop

Life’s flow stops.

An Update on My Admission to Walton Neuro Centre

On 27 February, I wrote about my admission to Walton Neuro Centre in Liverpool where I Underwent treatment for a brain abscess (https://kmorrispoet.com/2025/02/27/an-explanation-from-kevin-morris/).

I am delighted to report that I was discharged from Walton Neuro Centre and I’m now writing this in my mum’s back garden as birds sing and wind chimes tinkle.

I am grateful beyond words to the staff in Walton Neuro Centre for their excellent care.

Some of the poems I composed whilst in hospital will find their way into a future poetry collection, or perhaps into a book dedicated to my experiences of dealing with my brain abscess.

You can find out about the Walton Centre here Home | The Walton Centre Website.

Tedium

Nurses go to and thro.

While on the ward

The patients mostly feel bored.

Some watch daytime TV

Or sleep the day away.

As for me

I look forward to visiting time

And meantime rhyme.

.

I find the nurses are kind.

They will chat

Of this and that.

.

I grow fat

But try to exercise.

Its no surprise

That food breaks up the day

So patients eat

To keep the boredom at bay.

.

At boarding school

The lights went out at 10.

The hospital’s rules

Are similar to them.

.

Here there is no beer.

Lights stay on longer,

(But the nurses control them).

.

I grow stronger

And desire my own bed

And private time

To indulge in rhyme.
