There is much on display today
In the sultry city.
I am witty.
We chat of this and that.
She laughs. adjusts the rucksack
On my back.
I think on mermaids
And know I grow old.

With the sea so near it´s understandable to think of Mermaids. 😉 Best wishes, Michael
I’m pleased you enjoyed my poem, Michael. In fact the Thames is nearer to me than the sea.
“The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock” has been one of my favorite poems, ever since I read it in college.
Well spotted Liz. Likewise, I have long enjoyed the Love Song of J Alfred Prufrock. Although it is no walk in the park to comprehend. It is, in my opinion a much easier read than the Wasteland, which is also one of my favourite poems.
I read the sections of “The Wasteland” that were assigned to me–but I never did read the whole thing.
I can understand why you didn’t read the whole of the Wasteland.
