It is Stephen King’s fault. He featured a cuckoo clock of a sort in The Shining and the descriptions really creeped me out. Now when I see one, I think of that scene.
I did once listen to an unabridged audio download from Audible of The Shining, which I enjoyed very much. It wasn’t so much the cuckoo clock thaat creeped me out, but the lady who died in the bath who attempts to grab the boy and his father. Also, when the lift starts to go up and down of it’s own volition.
Sad, Kevin. I hope your clock goes on for many years.
Thank you, Vivienne
I’ve always loved cuckoo clocks.
Thank you for your comment, Esther. I have always been a lover of clocks in general, particularly chiming and cuckoo clocks.
I find cuckoo blocks creepy but I like your poem.
I’m intrigued as to why you find cuckoo clocks creepy, but I’m delighted you like my poem, Robbie
