When my friend said, “your poetry is dark”.
I could have said, “should I pretend
That we don’t all end
In the stark dark, my old friend”.
But I smiled and whiled away more time
In drink. But now rhyme
Of you and me. and truth in poetry.

This is such a good poem. So much in so few words.
Thank you, Esther. I’m so pleased you enjoyed my poem and can relate to it.
I think it’s a poets duty to point out things commonly not discussed. xx Michael
Thank you for your comment, Michael. I agree with you. Poets should point out the truth, however uncomfortable that may be at times.
