Another’s Death

In another’s death we see

Our own mortality.

We sympathise with the bereaved,

And may even grieve.

But in another’s death we see

Our own Mortality.

Too true, Kevin. Especially as we get older. When I hear of someone dying, I now privately add up the number of years I have to that person’s age. Sometimes it’s good, sometimes it’s depressing.

I’m pleased you can relate to my poem, Vivienne. As I have grown older (I’m now 55), I do as you do and think of the years I have left. Or the years I think I have still to live.
