Listening to Mosley speak
I hear an apologist
For the Third Reich
“I was never an anti-Semite”
He said.
I shake my head.
“Sir, you lie
And those who glorify
You defame
Patriotisms name.
For they would like
To create a new Reich”.
(An interview with the late Sir Oswald Mosley on Thames Television, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HNhF28fzN9I).
Its so horrible to hear and see people denying what had happend. Thank you for remembering, and sharing, Kevin! Best wishes, Michael
I felt I had to write about listening to the former leader of the British Union of Fascists (who received funding from Nazi Germany and Fascist Italy) speak. Thank you for commenting, Michael. You are right. We should never forget the horrors of Fascism and other systems, such as Communism, which stamp on the individual. Best wishes. Kevin
Thank you very much, Kevin! Enjoy your weekend! Michael
You too, Michael. Have a lovely weekend. Kevin
Thank you very much, Kevin! 🙂 xx

I feel both saddened and afraid for what appears to be the rise of such politics in the modern world. They don’t call it Nazi-ism but use the much more friendly and innocent sounding name of Populism. Why do journalists not call it by its proper name?
Many thanks for commenting, Vivienne. I don’t defend populism. However, populism can be either of the extreme right or the extreme left. Or it can be simply a political way of being which tries to be all things to all people. Populism is dangerous, but not all populists are Fascists or Nazis.
Maybe, but those I’ve seen seem to be rather to the right. Extremism in any form is dangerous, though.
I agree with you that populism is dangerous, Vivienne. I voted to remain in the European Union. Whilst there where thoughtful and principled people who voted to withdraw from the EU, there where many populists (of both left and right) who argued for withdrawal. Most people think of the Brexit Party, but there where also those on the left who (in the tradition of Tony Benn) argued that the EU is a “capitalist club” and joined with populists on the right in arguing for withdrawal.
