In the library I would look at books
And seashells, so near to shelves
Drowning in books.
At the time this seemed incongruous to me.
But now I see no incongruity
For the sea
Will, one day, sweep all this culture away
Leaving only shells.

But now I see no incongruity
For the sea
Will, one day, sweep all this culture away
Leaving only shells.

Thank you for commenting, Vivienne. I’m pleased you like my poem
Ah yes, bivalves! Wonderful! Bravo! Now if youβll excuse me, I must lie down and emotionally process the tragic demise of the stiff pen shell. ππ’
