The Sphinx

The enigmatic sphinx, winks
As I
Pass by.
And seems to say
“‘Tis a beautiful day
And, of course
A nod is as good as a wink
To a blind horse.
But my good sir,
You should take extreme care,
For you think
I wink,

But the sun’s glare …”.

The above poem was prompted by the mention of the Sphinx in this wonderful poem by Gabriela, https://shortprose.blog/2020/05/09/the-violin-of-love-poem-poetry-prose-poem/

It was a pleasure to read your poem Kevin. I am humbled I inspired you. It has been hot and dry here. Today is rather cooler so I am grateful.
        Enjoy the beautiful weather.

I like warm weather Kevin. But it was so hot that my car battery went dead in the garage. Cool is like in the low twenties forf me. That is what we have today 🙂

Thank you for sharing this article. I have never thought London had such an exquisite homage to Ancient Egyptians! It’s always great to find inspiration in one’s surroundings. 🙂
