Invitation to join poet Kevin Morris for an online poetry reading, at 8 pm (UK time) on Wednesday 9 April
Just a reminder for anyone who is free and interested, that I shall be doing a poetry reading on Zoom this evening, at 8 PM (UK Time). For details please see the original post below. To clarify, the event did not take place yesterday evening (Wednesday 8 April), but will happen at 8 pm this evening. Apologies for any confusion caused. Kevin
For a while now, I have been mulling over the idea of doing a poetry reading. My original intention was that this would be an event held somewhere in Crystal Palace, with people physically in attendance. However, due to COVID19 (the Corona Virus), this is, sadly not possible. Hence I have decided to host a virtual event, details of which can be found below.
It remains my intention to hold a live event (with guests physically present) when COVID19 is resolved/the UK lock-down is over. In the meantime, I hope that you will be able to participate in the online event to be held at 8 pm, on Wednesday 9 April:

The sound of rain
The sound of rain reached my ear.
‘Twas no cadence drear
To me,
Simply the rain,
Timeless, wild and free.
Dark Angel
A poem written by me back in 2013.
I love you because I can tell you my darkest secrets, things which would make the strongest of men go blubbering in search of his mummy. You judge me not, my blackest fantasies are your deepest desires.
In the depths of night when all but the vampire sleeps we speak of philosophy, of the darkness which lurks within the human heart. You are always there for me, my girl beautiful and serene. You laugh in time with my laughter and weep as I weep. Never changing, fixed, emortal caught in the brightness of my screen you are my virtual girlfriend, a machine.
The Path Through The Woods
This poem first appeared here back in 2015. I frequently visit Spa Woods (the place referred to in the below poem), and always gain something slightly different from the experience.
The path taken less often than I should,
This tranquil place through a nearby wood.
A spot with trees for walls
Where sunlight through the branches falls.
An oasis from the urban din
I find a quiet place within.
An inner space where the heart can be still,
A peaceful spot on this wooded hill.
—
The path to the road ascends.
A cloud of gloom on me descends.
I must return to this rented land
Where advertising hordings stand.
A world where empty vessels make most noise,
And people play with broken toys.
The Sun’s Light Ends in Night
The sun’s light
Ends in night.
But when I express
It this way
Some will say
That I obsess
With death.
Yet one may
Take delight
In a summer’s day,
But not fight
The inevitable night.

………………………………………………………………………………………………
This is a work obsessed with the coming death. Whether it is to be the death of a person or of a way of life it does not matter, The Collected Poems of K Morris, recognizes that there is an end to all things. Poet K. Morris released this work in 2019. The structure of the majority of his pieces follows an alternating rhyme scheme. The poet also keeps most of his work short and to the point.
The collection will make readers rather sad for the speaker. There is a gloominess lingering over The Selected Poems of K Morris that is hard to ignore. The speaker mourns death’s unhindered advance but…

My Old Clock I Wind
My old clock I wind
And much philosophy therein find.
I can bring
The pendulum’s swing
To a stop With my hand,
Yet I can not command
Time to default
On his duty and halt
The passing of the years.
He has no ears
For our laughter and tears
And his sickle will swing on
Long after we are gone.
Why produce a ‘Selected Poems’ – Guest post by, Kevin Morris…
My thanks to Chris Graham (AKA The Story Reading Ape), for publishing a guest post by me, in which I discuss how I went about compiling my “Selected Poems”.
Chris The Story Reading Ape's Blog
I am grateful to Chris Graham for the opportunity to write about my experience of compiling and publishing my “Selected Poems”.
Firstly, one might ask, why produce a ‘Selected Poems’?

In the case of myself, I have published 6 collections of poetry: “Dalliance: A Collection of Poetry and Prose”, “The Girl Who Wasn’t There and Other Poems”, “Refractions”, “Lost in the Labyrinth of My Mind”, ” My Old Clock I Wind and Other Poems” and “The Writer’s Pen and Other Poems”. In addition, I have composed a number of other poems which do not appear in the forgoing publications, but are included in my “Selected Poems”.
I did, briefly consider publishing a “Collected Poems”. However, to be totally frank, I wished to only include those poems that (in my admittedly biased opinion) constitute my best work. And I am not equally proud of everything that has poured forth…

Daffodils
“The daffodils are out in Saint James’s Park”
My colleague did remark.
Today
The wind blusters
Through Wordsworth’s spritely clusters,
And I wonder how long will the chancers stay.
