Bathwater

A young woman of 20
Sells water from her bath
For £24, and there are plenty
Who buy.
I laugh
And wonder why I
Spend my
Valuable time
In rhyme . . .!

(Yesterday I read this article http://mylifestylemax.com/lifestyle/influencer-charges-fans-24-to-buy-bathwater-shes-played-in-and-it-sells-out/ about an”influencer” on Instagram who sells her bath water to any of her followers who are happy to pay £24 for the privelege of possessing a bottle of, err bath water. This caused me to ponder on how people value things, whether that be the water in which a young woman has soaked, or the rhymes poets such as I pen).

Good grief, has the world gone totally mad?! I’m not sure who is the craziest here..the girl for having the idea, or her followers for buying it! I’d much rather savour one of your rhymes, Kevin…after all, it will never evaporate!

I agree with you Debbie. I also am unsure as to who is the crazzy one here. On reading the article I was reminded of the old saying, “a fool and his money are soon parted”. However, in the great scheme of things its harmless and I guess that both parties benefit – the young woman is financially better off, whilst the purchases of the bath water (I suspect almost wholly, if not exclusively men) obtain something of value to them . . . Thanks for your very kind words about my poems,, Debbie, which are really appreciated. Now, has anyone seen my collection of bottles? I feel the need for a bath coming on! All the best – Kevin
