Dirty Linen By K Morris

They washed filthy linen in a public place. The people blanched at their disgrace.

Those two hung soiled garments in the town square. The populace sniggered. The couple didn’t care.

They left their unclean washing with the garbage to be taken away. The binman said, “the rubbish can go but your dirty laundry must stay”.

Thanks for your comment Tess. It reflects my mixed emotions on viewing television shows in which people air their dirty laundry in public. These programmes are supposed to assist the participants to overcome personal problems but, in reality afford entertainment for the audience together with the viewers. On the one hand such spectacles are amusing but, on the other I, personally find it profoundly sad that individuals choose to parade their personal lives in the full glare of the cameras. I don’t, incidentally go out of my way to see such shows, they often seem to be on when I visit doctors surgeries so its difficult to avoid them. Kevin
