         Reminds me of an old Twilight Zone story about mind control through the TV.

         possibly The Twilight Zone borrowed the idea from Orwell’s 1984 where people are monitored by the telescreen in the corner of every party member’s living room. Not quite mind control but with the Thought Police getting fairly close to it.
