Karl Marx Discussed Factors of Production with His Maid

Karl Marx discussed factors of production
With his maid
Who, no longer staid
Learned about equality,
The seduction
Of maid
By master
And what it is
To be free.

Many thanks for your comment and your kind words on my poem. I read history and politics at University College of Swansea. As part of my studies I chose a module on European Socialist thought, and another on the history of political thought. As part of both modules I read Marx, Hobbes, Locke, Mill and several other theorists. So, in answer to your question, I am indeed familiar with the writings of Marx, Engels and Lenin. Communism has (arguably) resulted in more deaths than any other ideology. Pol Pot in Cambodia, Mao in China, Stalin in the former Soviet Union. Millions died under Stalin’s terror in the Gulags and as a consequence of forced collectivisation. Millions also perished in Mao’s Cultural Revolution and in Pol Pot’s killing fields. Many Marxists try to deny that the regimes responsible for such atrocities where truly Marxist. However its significant that everywhere Marxism/Communism has been implemented it has lead to tyrany and economic ineficiency. Granted Yugoslavia under Tito did not suffer in the same manner as did the Soviet Union, nonetheless political disidents where still imprisoned and, ultimately the system collapsed. Capitalism has its problems but has proved far more durable than was predicted by Karl Marx and his followers. Also there is a link between well distributed private property and political freedom (where everything is owned by the state there can be no real freedom as people can be sacked from their state jobs and a media owned by the state parrots the party line). Thanks again for your comment. I shall take a look at your website.

It is a pleasure to hear your point of view and thank you again for commenting. There are good people who adhere to the philosophy of Karl Marx. A good friend of mine is such a person. I respect his viewpoint. I do not, however share it. All the best – Kevin
