If one is interested in record breaking, I can see the point of the below exercise. However if the aim is to truly comprehend and, dare one say it, actually enjoy reading, then reading a book in 25 minutes becomes a wholly sterile occupation, (http://www.dailymail.co.uk/home/books/article-3168948/How-read-novel-25-minutes-remember-plot.html).

I truly don’t see the point, but then, I like to savor a book and read every delicious word.
Thank you for your comment. I agree with you. The whole point of reading fiction is the enjoyment one derives from doing so. Kevin
I would have liked the skill when reading textbooks, of course 😀
I agree it would be a “sterile occupation” which is why I haven’t clicked on the link. I like to enjoy the long route through each and every turn.
Thank you for your comment. I was intrigued by the title of the article which caused me to click on the link. From having skimmed through some of the comments which the piece generated, it appears that most readers are of the same view as you and I – that the exercise is a pointless one. Kevin
I can see the point only for those whose job requires such basic undestanding of a plotline… choosing artwork, perhaps, or promotion… Otherwise, and for readers, where is the pleasure in skimming something designed to be savoured?
Thanks for your comment Sue. I agree. Best. Kevin
I suppose if it were for revision for a test or an essay or something. Would hate to do this with a novel.
