In this old, familiar wood

In this old, familiar wood
I take my hood
Down, just
In time for the rain.
I shall not put it up again.

Thoughts of lust,
Of lost love,
And friendship I shall retain,
For a while. But this wood
And the rain,
Shall remain.

      Thank you, Gabriela.

I composed this poem just after having returned from a walk with my dog, in the woods near to my home. It was going around in my head, so I wrote it down while it was fresh in my mind.

      Best wishes, Kevin
